Deborah and James Howe are the authors of Bunnicula. She and her husband have created 1 other book called Teddy Bear’s Scrapbook. Deborah died with cancer at the age of 31, before any of her books could get published. Before writing, Deborah graduated from Boston university and worked as an actress.
James Howe was born August 2, 1946. He is an American children’s writer with more than 80 adult books published. He is best known for children series Bunnicula about a rabbit that has many unusual habits. At the age of 10, James wrote a play based on a comic strip as well as short stories and newspapers. He wrote plays during studies at his college; Boston University.
James soon moved to New York City and got a career as an actor and model. In the 1970’s, James mother-in-law encouraged him to write a children’s story. Working with his wife; Deborah Howe, he created the first book about Bunnicula. The book won ten children’s awards. When James’s wife died, James got inspired to create the Hospital Book which is about the various professionals at the hospital.
In 1981, James began to write full time. Other than the Bunnicula series, he wrote picture books, children’s novels and other types of stories. In 1971, James published his first two young adult novels.
