Trouble According to Humphrey

This is my last book report. It's a glossary of new words I learned in my book. I hope you can learn something too. 
#2 Glossary
1. Furiously= very powerful or violent
He furiously opened a big jar of beans.

2. Afternoon= the part of the day between noon and evening
This afternoon it started raining and wouldn’t stop.

3. Alarmed= a feeling of fear caused by a sudden sound
I was alarmed because I heard a lion roar with hunger in the distant woods.

4. Announce= to say something in a loud way
Over the loudspeaker, the principal announced the winner of the competition.

5. Squeaked= to speak in a high pitched voice because you are excited
The hamster squeaked when his owners told him he would be visiting the library.

6. Hurried= something happening or done too quickly
He hurried to work because he was late.

7. Splashing= liquid moving in a noisy way
The child splashed happily in the water.

8. Chalkboard= a board written on with chalk
The teacher wrote math problems on the chalkboard for the children to solve.

9. Especially= something done more than usually
Our friends remember to bring fluffy toys for our birthdays because we especially like them.

10. Straightened= to make something straight
He straightened out his crumpled homework; by placing it under a heavy book.

11. Armrests= the part of a vehicle that supports your arm
He used the armrests in the airplane to support his arm.

12. According= your perspective
According to grandma, swimming is awesome.

13. Pagoda= a tall building with many floors and curved roofs
I think my guinea pig really wants that japanese pagoda.

14. Although= despite a fact
Although the teacher was sick, all the children did their work.

15. Winking= to close and open your eyes quickly.
My dog and cat look like they are winking.
