Life-Changing

When reviewing this great TFK article "Tell Us About It - Kids Health", I found these questions that kids need to answer about their parents. The questions sucked me in, and I decided to answer them here:

1. How well do you get along with your parents?

Me and my parents get along pretty well. One of the problems is that my parents like to fight. They fight mostly on weekends. For some reason, I think they shouldn't be married to each other. My parents are nice and usually let me have what I want. I think in the long run, I'll get along fine with my parents.

2. What do you and your parents argue about?

My parents usually argue to me about work, and that we will get a good house pretty soon. I think that we sometimes argue when I ask for things they don't want to get. We argue about gifts and presents and other stuff.

3. What do you wish you can make parents understand about kids?

I wish my parents will understand  that as kids we ask for things we don't need. Or that we make lots of mistakes. Maybe we sometimes get crazy! That way they won't yell at us if we do any of these three things.

4. Do you have fun with your parents?

Yes, me and my parents have fun together. Together, we read, learn to code, and write blogs. Together, we go for a walk, bike ride, or go roller skate, and ice skate. Together, we go for vacation and watch movies. Together, me and my parents have a lot of fun.

I completely encourage children to try to answer these questions. They can help their parents by using their very own voice. So, children out there go and answer these questions!

And parents, if your children come up to you with these questions answered; it's in your interest to listen. This can change your kids and your own life; for the better!

My passion is Leadership

Imagine giving a speech in front of a million people, each one listening intently, being sure not to miss a single word. My passion is leadership!

First, being a leader means you’re the best, but be sure not to tell anyone. A leader’s job is to make others the Best. Second, it’s fun to give speeches. Speeches show the EQ and IQ of a leader. Third, you get a great feeling when you help others. Fourth, you can make a good living. Although money doesn’t give happiness, it gives you freedom. Freedom provides opportunity to explore more passions. Fifth, you can write your autobiography. Now isn’t that exciting! Most importantly, a leader would have lots of supportive friends.

Ignoring the fact that you would also have a lot of non supportive enemies trying to destroy your every second. Anyhow, being a leader has more advantages than disadvantages; so I would rather be leader than not.

As you can imagine, I also have some views on leadership. To me, a leader is not someone who is famous, but someone selfless and willing to help others in any situation. Leaders don’t have to be skilled at everything, they just need to be able to work well with others. These are my views on leadership.

I also have a couple of symbols of leadership. They are The Eagle, Lady Liberty, and The Lion. The Eagle represents soaring high and having big visions. Lady Liberty represents friendship and freedom. Last but not least, the Lion represents courage and bravery under all circumstances.

My Special Name!

Riya is a Japanese name. Me and my mom make a perfect pair because Riya means singer and Urvashi (my mom's name) means dancer. Well, the only problem is my mom does not know how to dance and I do not know how to sing. But we can learn and try to change that. At birth, I was naughty. As I became a toddler, I removed my grandmother's utensils from her shelves. I also ordered my grandparents to make the bed every morning when I woke up. I do feel embarrassed now about that. In December 2009, I was mad at my dad. I grabbed a plastic bag and collected my favorite dress given by my gradma, a few fluffy toys, and I announced my leaving the house to never come back.

My nickname is Piali, my mom calls me by it all the time. I was named Riya because my mom thought it was short and unique. I love my name because it's special to me.

Riya is a Japanese name
I was naughty at birth
Yes, I did lots of naughty things
After I was born and able to walk, I ran away into the basement because I was mad

Toys are one of my favorite things
Yet, I only like fluffy ones
At the age of one, I ran with a bucket and fell, breaking my collar bone
Got a two wheeler bike at three and learned to ride it
I love Riya, my special name!

Houses and Apartment Buildings Which Would You Live In?

Have you ever lived in a house or apartment building? I’ve lived in both and even though they are similar, they have several major differences. I would love to share below how they are alike and different.

Houses and apartment buildings are similar in multiple ways. Both have neighborhoods and neighbors to play with. Both have stairs and a couple of floors. Though sneaky basements are common in houses, some apartment buildings like townhouses too have basements. Both have bedrooms and at least one window in a bedroom. In these ways houses and apartment building are alike.

On the other hand, these households are different. Houses have an area (like a backyard) all to themselves. However, apartment buildings have an area to share. While houses have attics, apartment buildings have none. Even though apartment buildings have many neighbors, houses have one or two living next door and sometimes at quite a distance. Unlike houses, dogs may not be allowed in apartment buildings. Houses only have one family in a building, yet apartment buildings may have several. Although apartment buildings may have a children’s center, houses do not. Apartments are less expensive than buying a whole house. These are some differences between the two types of living areas.

Moving from a house to an apartment building may seem difficult, but knowing what to expect will help you be more comfortable. If you are moving to an apartment building, you have to be aware of the sounds you might think come from your house even when no one other than you is around. Really, it is just your neighbors. The squeaking and thumping sounds are passing through the walls.

Even though moving means getting comfortable in a different environment, many things will feel similar.

Donate Books to Needy Children

Know a child in need of a book? On July 2nd, 2014, Abby Daly won a NJ Hero award. She has always enjoyed community service. Her company Bridge of Books has been able to distribute over 425,000 books! Its goal is to provide an ongoing source of books to unprivileged children. This helps support literacy skills and encourages a love of reading. Many children can’t afford books or need help to read. Bridge of Books funds and donates books to these kids.

Bridge of Books is partners with the Youth Corps. Together they created the Summer Book Blast Book Fair. There were about 2,400 books for children to choose to take home. That program was a blast and Bridge of Books is going to set it up next year as well.

I think Abby Daly definitely showed what it meant to be an NJ Hero. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to be able to meet Abby Daly in person!

Dragon Nonstop

-a story by Writing Girl (WG)
Today was a super windy morning and Brimstone; the big white dragon, was tired of not being allowed to fly. The weather kept on getting worse, and she knew she would be blown away. Brimstone was so angry that she decided to take the risk of flying. She was 5 years old, and 200 feet tall. That was short for a dragon, so if Brimstone got stuck, other hungry dragons would try to attack her. Brimstone flew into the sky and managed to spread her wings. As she flew on, it became harder, and soon she was fighting the current. Eventually, Brimstone fell down, hitting an avalanche as she went.

When she reached the ground, Brimstone stretched her wings. She was just about to get up when the avalanche of rocks fell on her wing. “No!” “Help!” she cried, but there was no answer. Only a nearby group of dragons heard her. They were 600 feet tall. They were led by “The Majestic One,”. When Brimstone saw who was there, she knew she had no hope.

And just when “The Majestic One” was ready to pounce, Brimstone heard a soft growl. It was a bear as big as the “The Majestic One”. As the two enemies came closer, Brimstone spotted an airplane in the air. “How would that help me?,” Brimstone thought aloud. But “The Majestic One” got distracted by the airplane, and kept on trying to eat it but it always flew away in the nick of time. Right above the bear, the airplane circled. Finally, a big metallic thing flew down from the airplane and hit the bear. The bear went exploding into the distance.

Then as the thing in the airplane was celebrating,“The Majestic One”, was getting ready to pounce. Using strength and power, Brimstone, freed her wing from the rock and smashed into “The Majestic One”. At, the same time, the airplane realized what was happening and dropped another metallic thing on that Majestic dragon. His skin of armor melted, creating sticky, red puddles. The pack, seeing what had happened fled surprisingly. Brimstone flew away, and to thank the airplane for its service, she took it on her wing.
Epilogue
The next morning, when Brimstone was flying in the sky, she saw a pack of dragons. Hey, was it just her eyes, or was “The Majestic One’s” pack already back with a new leader?

Fall

The fall leaves bruise by the dark night sky,
the wind shows them their path.
When you wake, see them
floating by the empty trees,
and the birds fleeing too,
cause’ winter’s round the bend.

A Letter to the Principal

This is a letter I wrote to the principal of my school. I enjoyed writing it and hope you will enjoy reading it.

Dear principal,
The holiday concert was a great success. But I noticed one error. Some people in the top were completer hidden. I have found a way to solve this problem. Some children in the front should sit down so the children in the back can be seen. That way, even if some children in the back are unseen, they will be seen. Also, children could rotate seats or positions during the songs to be seen. I hope you like my ideas. If you have any concerns please reply back.

P.S. If my followers see anything I could to better I would like them to comment.
